Why It Matters:
At the heart of this Summit is our mission to raise funds for our BNC Scholars, and all funds raised are 100% tax-deductible. The impact goes further than the dollar amount itself. A single $5,000 BNC scholarship prevents a nursing student from repaying approximately $6,800 over the life of a typical federal student loan, saving nearly $1,800 in interest alone. It's a modest gift, but it allows nursing graduates to start their careers with less financial weight on their shoulders.
Since its founding, the Black Nurse Collaborative has awarded over $20,000 in scholarships to nursing students. Students who financed through federal loans over a standard 10-year repayment period, that same amount would have cost those students roughly $27,300 to repay. Our scholarships have helped future nurses avoid more than $7,200 in interest payments alone.
Meet Our 2026 BNC Scholar:
We're proud to introduce Syniah Driver, our 2026 BNC Scholar, expected class of 2029. Syniah is studying Nursing at Prairie View A&M University with a minor in Health. This past summer she prepared for the TEAS exam while staying active in her community, volunteering with the Houston Food Bank, campus cleanups, donation drives, and the 1876 Leadership Academy Community Service Program at Prairie View A&M. She also serves as a youth leader at her church. Syniah is exactly who this Summit exists to support, and YOUR presence on September 12th helps make stories like hers possible.
